A bust of Napoleon as 1st consul, after Louis-Simon Boizot, french, 1743-1809. Depicted as a young man, wearing double breasted tunic with lace detail, and neck scarf, mounted on a black & white marble base of the finest quality, as can be seen from the depth of polished sheen in its surface. Louis-simon Boizot was the son of Antoine Boizot a designer of the famous Gobelins tapestries. He studied at the academie Royal, Paris, winning the prix de rome in 1762, and finishing his studies at the Academie de france in Rome, 1770. A truely timeless piece of elegant art, which looks outstanding as an interior finishing piece.
